POTTERDAMERUNG!
(The musical)
Yep, it's nigh.
Though oddly enough, it took me by complete surprise to learn that the
Order of the Phoenix movie started last weekend. My exact words were: "Already? Wow, I didn't think it was for at least another week."
Sadly, I guess this means I'm not one of those uberfans who violently rows the oars of some OTP ship...and seeks other HP ships to fire upon. Nor do I seem to be one of those uberfans who is decrying all the changes they had to make in adapting OotP for its theatrical treatment. Nor do I appear to me such a fan that I rushed out, purchased and thoroughly scrutinized the soon-to-be-obsolete HP fan book in which many a fans (conspiracy) theorize about what will happen in the upcoming
Deathly Hallows.
You think I jest.
Check out your nearest Chapter or Indigo or any big bookstore prepping for the release of the final Harry Potter book. I'm betting on the big-assed display table they have for all related Potterphrenelia
(ooh, word hybrids! Shiney!), you will find a published book that is filled entirely with essays and theories made by fans about what we'll see in book 7.
$10 says almost all of them will be wrong.
In the meantime, you can't really go anywhere without seeing some reminder that the end (of Harry Potter) is nigh. And you certainly can't scuttle about online, with spoiler-trolls looking to preemtively blow up the fandom. Is'nt it sad that here, on this little bit of nowhere, you'd be guaranteed to find no spoilers whatsoever...and this will probably be the only update I'll do for the next few days. So much for safely camping out on this blog, alas.
But then again, you could always go back to the beginning and reread every entry I've ever made. And while you're at it, Google me and see if anything even remotely ego-inflating (or potentially incriminating) pops up.
Hey, it's something to do whilst waiting out the spoiler-trolls.
As for me, I'll be lounging on my Interweb deck chair, drinking something alcoholic and listening to the melodic sounds of the Harry Potter fandom imploding on itself. (Admit it: even if you're like me and enjoy the books, you're secretly & gleefully waiting to see how the fandom collapses in on itself once
Deathly Hallows arrives.)
Until the next little bit of nowhere: same Muggle-time, same Muggle-channel.
Today's Lesson: the original term is "gotterdammerung" meaning "twilight of the gods." Considering what's about to happen to the HP fandom, the title to this bit o' nowhere seems an oddly appropriate one. Now if only I had thought of it first, dammit!
